Associate Professor Geoff Ramin, colleague of mine in RFDS Queensland and Bond University Retrieval medicine co-lecturer

We are currently looking for a Medical Officer to start in the position of Medical Assistance and Retrieval MO for Allianz Global Assistance Australia. This position is to become vacant  in Febuary 2013. CLICK HERE FOR  Position Description – Medical Officer
Over the last four years the position has been taken up by doctors from an Emergency Medicine background but this is not an absolute requirement and the post may suit doctors from a variety of backgrounds.

The Medical Officer (MO) is a key member of the Medical Department responsible for the servicing of international and domestic travellers under the Allianz Assistance Group structure.

The MO will provide opinions and recommendations in the overall co-ordination of medical case management. The majority of these cases will be based overseas. This relates to broad medical issues including the assessment of complex cases, liason with overseas medical teams to ensure appropriate clinical management of our cases, determining fitness to fly, aviation medical clearances and making repatriation recommendations when required. There will also be the opportunity to undertake a limited number of medical repatriations both internationally and domestically.

The position offers a great opportunity to develop skills in medical assistance, travel medicine, aviation medicine and medical repatriation/retrieval.
The position is Monday to Friday and based at our headquarters in Toowong, Brisbane. There is no after hours component except when a repatriation is being undertaken. The position may, therefore, also suit somebody who requires some time for additional studies.
If you wish to obtain more information or discuss this further  please contact A/Prof Geoff Ramin Chief Medical Officer at Allianz Global Assistance on 0400 005 668 or via email at ketamine@internode.on.net.
Regards
Geoff Ramin
